Our newest arrival has quite a story to tell. This young woolly monkey was rescued from an attempted wildlife trafficking operation, discovered cramped inside a small crate during a routine roadside inspection.
Wildlife authorities confiscated him on the spot, and an emergency rescue partnership rushed him to Vanilla Zoo within days. He arrived nervous, underweight, and completely without a name.
Our keeper Nigel took the lead on his recovery from day one, feeding him by hand and spending quiet mornings earning his trust one small step at a time.
Since no name came with him, the team voted to name him after the keeper who never left his side. Please welcome Nigel McBlockface to the family.
His unusually square, blocky head shape is exactly where the surname came from, and in just a few short weeks he has already become a firm favorite among the entire keeper team.
